Description

The Brahmana is respected because of his observance of prescribed karmas.  Tapas, protection of Vedas, serving the guests, etc. are the common dharmas of a brahmana.  His special duties include the learning of Vedas, teaching them, giving and accepting of charity, perform yAga, etc.  Shodasha Karmas are the rituals a brahmana is supposed to observe in life.
